2009 Ipsos Canadian Inter@ctive Reid Report now available for SFU researchers

Since 1995, Ipsos Reid has been surveying Canadians about their usage and attitudes towards the Internet. SFU Library has just acquired the 2009 Ipsos Canadian Interactive Reid Report, which can be accessed by SFU researchers. If you have a research question related to Canadians and the Internet, there's a good chance that this report will be useful to you.

Here are a few questions that the report can help with (answers below):

  1. Were most Canadians satisfied with their most recent online shopping experience?
  2. What percentage of Canadians claim to notice banner advertising on websites regularly?
  3. How many apps has the average Canadian smartphone user downloaded?
  4. On average, how many hours a week do Canadian teens spend playing games online?

The 2009 Ipsos Canadian Interactive Reid Report contains brief reports on each of the following topics:

Answers to the questions above:

  1. 84% of Canadians were satisfied with their most recent online shopping experience.
  2. 35% of Canadians claim to notice banner advertising on websites regularly.
  3. The average Canadian smartphone user has downloaded an average of 8 apps. (Interestingly, 50% of Canadian smartphone users have downloaded no apps.)
  4. Canadian teens spend an average of six hours a week playing online games.
